"Fin@L Intership Reflection"

MyHotComments.com

Well i think that i did meet my goals because all i wanted was to get an experience of what its like to have a real job (like being in an office for the whole day) and also get in contact with professional people. The most important thing i have learned is how to communicate with others and being able to offer them my help (like helping them with anything they need such as making copies or printing some files). I have improved a lot my English i mean the way of speaking and how to follow directions.

What were the highlights of your internship experience?
One of the most memorable moments at my internship to me was the last day, almost everyone from the office went to lunch including my mentor William, Jennifer and me. It was really fun we went to eat Italian food, we all sat down on a table and talk about a lot of different stuff such as the SAT like of of them took the test more than 2 times, it was a great experience because i never got to seat down and talk to them about stuff until this day. My biggest challenge was staying focus, because sometimes it was so quiet and there was no one to talk to but Jenifer so, when we had to an asingment in the computer i use to go on myspace while doing my job. The advice i would give to a new intern at this site is that the people who work there are very respectful and cool in certain ways, so you also have to show respect, don't be distracting others while they are working because they usually have a lot of work to do. What i'll miss the most about my internship is the people that work there

Assingment after break 5/ 5/ 08 "old and new things"

Two new things that i have done this and last week are delivering some files to the empire state that is like 10 blocks way from the office. Man! it was so fun on my way there, i was window shopping with jennifer. The funny thing is that we were standing right in front of the building but we didnt know until i asked someone. When we got inside the building man! there was so many elevators and we got lost. But we found our way out though.

The other new project i started on is, looking and verifying the address and phone number of each organization that helps immigrants. Also i had to call to all of those organizations to verify the address and the programs or what do they have to offer immigrants.

Something old that i usually do is making copies of different files, when there is a meeting.

Midpoint Reflection:

<> I was not expecting so much work in internship, there a lot of work we have to do that involves lots of papers and its very confusing sometimes. The differences between the school enviropment and the work place is that in school you work with the same people everyday and you already know these people for years and is easier to understand them and get alone. But at the work palce you are working with peole older than you are and have lots of experrience. Also you do not work with same peolpe everyday unless you had started a project with that person in which takes a few days to finish. I get alone with my mentor everyone who works at the Ny Immigration Coalition. I have learned a lot by working with these people, because i have to talk formally, no more street talk for me.I think i have not faced any challenges yet but i kno later on i will because the work kips getting harder. The challenges i have faced in school as a result of the altered schedule that i have is that,i get home kinda late from my internship plus i be tire and im not able to fish my my homework and projects.Im trying my best to wake up early to go to school so when i get there i start finishing what i need to get done to be able to turn in on time. My goals are to keep on doin a good job on my internship and also at school.

Daily post: Apirl 7th 08

There was only 30 survies left and i finished them all today.

Trip to New Paltz Univrsity**Tuesday March 11th

The trip was fun i loved it. It was a great opportunity for all 11th graders to go and visit this University, because its a great start for us to think about what college or university should we choose, according to the program they offer, how much will you pay, how is the campus and how big are the classes.
What i liked the most about this university is their campus and all of the programs they have for their students. Also i like the fact that is far away form home.

Third week assignment*

Describe one significant activity or project that you have completed or are working on currently. BE DESCRIPTIVE!
Give as much specific detail as you can. Elaborate. Explain. Expound. Delineate. Illustrate. Use a lot of words. Treat this like an English class writing assignment. Use complete sentences with correct grammar and punctuation.

This week i have been working on two different projects.
One of this projects is scanning paper works and personal information about the people who are working there now and others who worked before there including interns. After i scan the papers i go the computer and re-name all of the files.
The other project i am working on is updating the "Immigration law and procedure"by Matthew Bender. Taking out and inserting new pages Example:it comes a package with lots of papers and it says the year, example year 2005,in it comes instructions that tells you the number of pages you have to take out and insert. Example: take out pages 256 thru 259 and insert 256 thru 257.
The work is easy but it takes lots of time and involves lots of papers.
This work is Important Because Tom gets calls everyday from low income people who want need information about their immigration status and their rights, this binders need to be updated because its easier for Tom to be able to answer questions.
